Petrol price rise again and this time, it raises from RM 1.92 litre to RM 2.70 litre, that's a hike of 40%. Price hike for electricity was also announced to be raised by 18%. It was a nightmare to everyone here in the country. As what we understood, after the so many times of petrol hike announced yearly, once the price of petrol increases, prices of everything else will increase as well. The government said the new subsidy plan is made due to the global petrol hike and it has been burdening the country. Our Prime Minister said the price hike could suppress economic growth and drive up inflation as high as 5 per cent to 6 per cent from the current 3 per cent. According to the AFP Wednesday, June 04 report, Abdullah is tyaking major political risk in removing price controls even as he attempts to recover from disastrous March elections. Commenting on the issue, Mohd Hatta Ramli from PAS said, 'We stringly feel that it is a severe misjudgement on the part of the government, in probability, there will be a protest.' The cheif economist with research firm Ratings Agency Malaysia, Yeah Kim Leng said the price increase was expected, but the 40 per cent hike was way too much. Domestic Trade Minister Shaahrir Samad said pump price could rise till 3 to 4 ringgit per litre when price controls are completely removed in August. The goevernment will be able to save up to 13.7 billion ringgit by the new measure.
5 to 6 per cent of inflation rate is very high and it is almost impossibile for the low income citizens to survive here. I wander after saving the 13.7 billion from the petrol, what will the government do to make the country better since the living condition is so bad right now. Everything we use and eat will soon be more expensive, especially to me, who stays in Sunway/ PJ area, I wander will a bowl of noodle cost me 8 to 10 bucks, since now it's already 4 to 5 bucks. Sigh.. how the hell the government expect people to live in this condition. People will rather not work than work because guess what, drive to work itself already cost you half of your monthly salary. Not to forget the electricity is soon rising price, and gas and many other necessity. Less people working will slow down the economic growth and increase crime rate. Isn't that obvious? Is the people up there sleeping or what? Expect us to listen to all their bull crap promises about developing here developing there where after so many years, the only thing we see is still standing tall is the 2 jagung standing in th middle of KL. We know all these are just to make more lubang for them to make themselves richer. All they know is just happily stting in their office goyang kaki and claim for more transportation alowences from 'our tax money'. Wait till everyone is jobless and what's going to happen. We might be heading to being the 2nd Indonesia, where their government is so rich but the people are so poor.
