Mooncake festival

It's a day away from mooncake festival. Traditionally members of a family will go back to their home on this day, just like the full moon on this day - 'tuan yuan' - which means completeness and togetherness. This year I won't be able to join my family for the celebration. Mooncake festival used to mean alot to me when I was young. My sisters and I used to enjoy this day burning candles and playing lantern in front of our house back in our childhood days. Until we all grew up and no one care more about this day anymore other than my mom.

I am missing it now. I miss those days when I can smell the scent of incenses in the morning and helping my mom preparing offerings for the family's ancestors; than the meal with chicken, char siew, and many many other dishes on the table waiting for us to feast on; then the candles and the lantern. Seems like I can't get those things back to me anymore.

Happy mooncake festival...

Me too!!!

I like lantern but I prefer playing with candles more! And remember we used to burn all sorts of things - candle box, leaf, whatever we can get our hands on. And the disasterous 'performance' we did in 'se fu's temple nearby (maybe you've forgotten - we were guanyin group - no one laughed at my joke.).

Good old days.
