Zoo Negara

After having Bubble, Tickle and Milo in the house, I suddenly have a huge interest in animals. So this day I decided to pay a visit to the national zoo. It wasn't long since the last time I went there. I went there last year when I was still working with the kindergarten, it was a day trip with the students. However, I always wanted a chance to really slowly enjoy a day visiting the zoo. It reminds me so much of my childhood.

The national zoo does not change much, just like how it was 16 years ago, just it has become much older and it no longer looks interesting or attractive anymore. I wonder how can the government leave that place undeveloped just like that. Its not like the place has nothing worth develop. The place is still fill with many animals that can actually brings lotsa tourists to the country. Why can't they promote the place a little more, fix the infrastructure inside and make it more attractive to the public. It is nothing near to the zoos in Australia and Singapore. At least the zoos over there are interesting enough to draw not only tourists, but also their locals to come visit frequently. Our national zoo can easily beat the others because the captive animals there are quite a number. It was such a disappointment to see that the maintainable and the service in the zoo is so 'budgeted'. The potential of this place to rise as a hot spot for the country's tourism is definitely greater than anyone can imagine.

Not many know about the endangered species on earth, and by this I mean updated ones. I actually got this information when my hubby was researching about Indian Star Tortoise, the popular fancy tortoise which came out to the market and sold as pets a few years ago. This specie is actually near to extinction. The Indians hunts these tortoises down, empty their shells and use them as ornament boxes. How cruel is that. Anyway, non of this kinda information is told to the public and I bet not much that knew about it. If its not because of the research, I wouldn't know too. Even the zoo did not provide such information, nor a tour guide or a zoo keeper to explain the background of the animals there.

Haa.. The king of the jungle sleeping soundly

O well.. the zoo trip was still a worthy visit although we need to run back to our car under the rain. At least it brought me away from the busy stressful city and get close to nature for a day.
